Tuff Trailer History
In the 1960's and 70's the founder Don Piccolo had a large Boat manufacturing plant in Vancouver B.C. called Cal Glass Boats.
Not long after the boat business took off Don realized the need to supply trailers for the boats he built. At the time and probably for the most part true to this day he was one of the only boat builders to manufacture their own trailers.
Eventually the boat manufacturing business was sold off and the trailer manufacturing business remained. In the 90's Don's two son’s Jason and Danny both were old enough and showed interest in learning the business. Trailer manufacturing was a family business for many years and branched out into all sorts of different trailer types, from dumpers, large equipment and even enclosed trailers under the name Magnum Trailers.
Don eventually retired in 2000, Jason had moved on to his own business on Vancouver Island and Danny took over the manufacturing. Danny quickly recognized our niche in the market. Large custom boat trailers seemed to be where we excelled. This is also when we started building our first aluminum trailers. Always trying to find ways to set ourselves apart from the competition, we were one of, if not the first to manufacture aluminum trailers on the west coast.
As internet marketing came more and more into play and as the company grew our trailers started showing up all over the U.S. and we were soon contacted by Magnum trailers in Texas. The company in Texas had been using the name longer so we gave it up and changed the name to Tuff Trailer.
Fast Forward To Today
We have become one of the largest trailer manufacturers in the pacific northwest! The company has grown and recently changed ownership from Dan over to Deep Rattan, and with that, signifying a new era for the company. Not only are we continuing to provide the best trailers as well as service, but we are continuing to grow and learn each day on how we can improve our already amazing products! We strive to be the best and our quality shows.
All these years later and we are still building boat trailers the way we would for our own boats. We are proud of the fact that Tuff Trailer has grown into such a respected name not only for quality but customer service as well.
